Knitting madness…!

Ok. Why didn’t anybody tell me to start knitting x-mas gifts in July. Seriously, WHY?!  Ok… to be fair the Electric sheep podcast from Hoxton Handmade did warn me… but you know how it is ;)  (btw. I know I have said it at least once but I’ll say it again and again and again:  Electric sheep is an AWESOME podcast! ;) )

Anyway, x-mas knitting: extreme version has been going on lately, will post pictures of that later. I have finished all the knitted gifts for this year but I’m knitting for a friend that arrives on the 27th so I still have some gift-knitting to do.

I’ll spend x-mas at my parents with my fiancé so I’m packing. Here, I’m trying to cumulate all the stuff I have to take with me… this is about half of it.

It’s going to be niiiiiiice ;)

In case this is the last post for x-mas I wish you all happy holidays! ;)

Long time no see!

I spent last week in Denmark as a guide for my former students. Travelling with 15 teenagers around the Copenhagen area, doing all the touristy things.  I spent 3 days at a Danish home where the family was just fantastic! I gave them the white mittens in the previous post and a little Icelandic candy. Unfortunately I didn’t find any yarn-stores in Copenhagen…  But it was a lot of fun and a great way to say goodbye to the kids I’ve taught for 2 years. Now, I’m done with teaching (at least for the next few years). I started studying folklore  in the University of Iceland, as a matter of fact, the first lesson is today!

So… now that I’m in school I have alot of time to knit and do yarn-related stuff!  At the moment I’m dyeing 10 skeins of the Icelandic lace weight yarn einband. The last session is cooking right now, to bad that other memebers of the home don’t like the smell….

While I dye I like to listen to knitting podcasts and today I’ve been listening to the Electric Sheep from Hoxton Handmade (link on that in last post).  I just can’t tell you often enough how fabulous it is!

And oh! I joined a swap on Ravelry! My first swap ever! It’s a treasure swap and there is a list of what to send. I have already found few things to send but I can’t tell what it was until my swapper has recieved it, it’s supposed to be a suprise ;)

Mittens completed!

Spent yesterday afternoon and evening knitting THE mittens. I decided to fool myself so I started on the left one, clever clever! Around midnight two Lopi mittens were done and waiting to dry!

Pretty!

In about 13 hours I will be in a bus with my students (that will soon become my former students!) on our way to Denmark. It’s their graduation trip and the last thing I will do as their teacher. I will take the mittens with me as a gift to a woman that will be my host for 3 nights.

So… until next Friday I’ll be in Denmark enjoying myself in the sun (22°C… a “little” warmer than it has been in Iceland last few days…), knitting outside some cafés while my students spend their summer salaries and ride the roller-coasters in Tivoli. I won’t be able to blog so I thought I’d show you some fun websites and podcasts so you won’t miss me to much ;)

Podcasts are brilliant! You can listen to it whenever you want and it’s a great entertainment while knitting!

The electric sheep is my favorite podcast! If you have iTunes you can subscribe to the podcast there, for free of course. If not you can find all the episodes here (the older ones) and here (the newer ones). You can also find the Electric sheep on Twitter!

Yknit is another podcast I enjoy. It’s so alive and fresh! You can download the podcast here.
